The good, the bad and the ugly . . .

The good(s) from Salvation Army - seven amber tumblers for 30 cents each! Now I have a set of 8 to go with the one that my friend Gail sent me.

More good(s) . . . a Mary Englebreit journal, a book lovers diary, and white dishes. I was most excited about the white dishes since I've been looking for some cheap ones to have on hand for something different. Fifty-cents was just the right price.

The bad . . .a leaking dishwasher that has obviously been leaking for awhile -- which is proven by the bowed (swollen?) floor. This is bad, very bad. Has anyone bought a dishwasher lately? Do you like yours? -- or hate it?

The ugly . . . day today.
Church construction has come to a halt -- construction has begun on an ark. Our chickens have begun to develop webbed feet. just kidding about the ark -- (and construction hasn't stopped) -- but the mud pit continues to enlarge. Ok, and the chickens still have "large talons" - not web feet.

For Me????
A present came in the mail for me today! It's from my dear (and long time) friend Gail who lives in upstate New York. She was visiting this fall and noticed that I'd started a collection of amber glassware. I love the amber glass, especially in the fall. And not just any amber glass...I tend to like the stuff with character....like these awesome juice glasses! These glasses came from her kitchen -- I remember using them...and so do my kids! Thanks friend for my present! It was a bright spot in my day! They are in the cupboard now!

P.S. No possum sighting today! I wonder if Gabby finally got the chump.

If Kirk and I were kids right now...this would be us.
Today was a challenge. Tomorrow an even bigger challenge. It's turning out to be much harder than I thought it would be to leave my job. Bottom line is, I love the people I work with and for. They are an amazing group. There is sadness all around - none of them want this to happen either...we respect each other and work well together...but well, there just isn't a job for me now. It's a "re-organization" deal.
Today my boss and several others I've assisted took me out to a very nice lunch. Everything was going great until I was given a card -- and they wanted me to open it. And there was a gift card in there for a good amount of money. Which was really nice, and unexpected. The hard part is that they all wrote little notes of appreciation in the card...and I started to read them and "lost it" if you know what I mean. So I thanked them through my tears and a shakey voice and looked for someone to change the subject and bail me out! Which they did.
I went home after lunch. Just too emotional. And, well, there wasn't anything to do anyway.
Tomorrow is my last day. I'll only be in the office a few hours...but at 4pm there is a "send off" party at Buffalo Wild Wings that was arranged by the "boys" on the first floor...my "Purchasing and Building Services buddies". They invited lots of peeps. It's going to be bittersweet. Kirk is coming too...and Danae. Maybe Nate.
I hope I don't cry.

Day off
to vacuum, dust, clean, unpack, grocery shop, clean a bathroom, do laundry, put away groceries, clean kitchen, browse the thrift store, and show up for a haircut appt. that isn't until tomorrow!

and.....make dinner
This is Kirk's favorite meal - Fiesta Tortilla Stack
I really should make it more often since it is so easy, but I think I get tired of it.

My thrift store find: a silver plate tray.

There were other "finds" too, but I'll save them for another day's blog

To finish off a great day, Kirk and I went to Sam's Club and I bought myself this with the birthday money from dad (my father-in-love). Must get going now and learn how to use! I'm so excited and can't wait to try it out!
