City Kid, Country Kid

As the week goes on it has become quite clear that my dear sister has both city kids and country kids.

The girls are very good at feeding the chickens, collecting eggs and rounding up the hens at the end of the day.

They use their country kid instincts to get the hens back in the pen

and they are very efficient.

We took the kids (and their parents)
to the county fair over the weekend

not for the Midway rides or the food ...

Breed:  American Swiss
 but to experience the animals
Breed:  Holstein
It was among the animals that we realized
we had at least one city kid in the mix.

this rough and tough boy
weakened in the midst of manure
as we chuckled at his
 tip toe dance
around all suspicious muck and marks

Meanwhile, I walked through it all in my flip flops.
Cuz I'm a little bit country - and he's a little bit rock 'n roll.

  1. That one pick of the Dirk & Amy family walking -- it looked like we were the only ones there... :O

It was the last day of the fair ... and a HOT day in MN -- so attendance was light.

  2. I can relate to this as I have a country kid and a city kid. I bet you know which is which!
