Delayed Christmas

Ours was a delayed Christmas this year.  Since we all decided to wait until we could all be together, that meant that our "virtual" Christmas Eve was the 26th (last night) and our Christmas morning was this morning.

We started our 'Christmas Eve' by watching Danae dance with former dance team members at her HS alumni BB game.

(Follow the arrow for Danae)

Danae then did a quick change into her "dining out" with the family clothes . . .

And we all went to dinner at Victoria's....our favorite Italian restaurant.
Back at home -- we enjoyed some quite times together  . . .

After the stocking were hung "near" the chimney with care . . .
And some pictures were taken . . .

and taken again

and again . . . (this time with 'awkward hands')

and again . . .

We went to bed.
And slept-in until 9:30 a.m.
At which time the Christmas morning
rituals/traditions continued

the "traditions" start with
opening stockings on mom & dad's bed.
(and dad worries the bed will break)

after stockings are opened, we head down to the tree where the kids search for the pickle ornament.  If you find the pickle, you can choose to go first in gift opening order, or last.  It's tradition.
Nate found the pickle this year -- he chose to open his gifts 2nd.  Since the kids were little, we've always taken turns opening our gifts one at a time....that way we can all see what the other person receives -- and it makes the "tree time" last a little longer.  It's tradition.
At about 2 or3 rounds into the gift opening, we take a break for some homemade cherry and apple turnovers - fresh from the oven.  It's tradition.
I only make these twice a year -- for Christmas and Easter morning.
It's tradition.
Then, it's back to gift opening . . .

We enjoyed a quiet day together, playing games (Wii, Wii fit, EyeToy (PS2), visiting with friends who stopped by throughout the day -- and watching Mama Mia -- which I recommend for a fun, lighthearted movie watching experience.

Maybe I'll share some of my gifts with you tomorrow - would that bore you?
